New Opportunities for Community Connection --

  • Darius Coulibaly from Empowering the Power, Inc, will return this Sunday to give us an update on his summer trip to Côte d'Ivoire. He will join the Y.O.U. and Uni-teens during their service and present to the congregation during hospitality. Information about him can be found at www.empoweringthepoor.org. Thank you, Eileen Owen, for keeping us connected with the important work Darius is doing!
  • Would you like to see the Broadway musical Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz? Stephanie Woodson is coordinating a group trip to Richmond’s Landmark Theater on March 13, 2010 at 2 pm to see this musical. She needs at least 20 people to commit to going to the show for us to reserve space. This event is open to everyone – feel free to invite friends, family and neighbors! A sign-up sheet is available in the church office. For more information, contact Steph at SWoodson@co.stafford.va.us or (540) 891-4389.
  •  New Church Directory: Want to be part of a new church directory? We need 20 people committed to participating in this directory to proceed. We have 15 commitments so far. If you want to participate, please sign the roster this Sunday. For more information, contact Gina Martin at ginamartin03@hotmail.com.

Our Annual Holiday Food Drive for BRAGG HILL Family Life Center is underway. We are collecting non-perishable food items for holiday food baskets for needy area families. Please place your contributions in the donations box in the church office. All contributions are accepted with gratitude and appreciation!

The Holiday Season is just around the corner and we are making plans for it. If you would be interested in helping Pamela Bowles create our church’s Advent Wreath, please contact her at pamela@pathsofillumination.com. With sufficient interest, Pamela will also provide instruction and materials for participants to make their own Advent wreath.

New Unity SEE Class is forming in January – FINDING YOURSELF IN TRANSITION, based on the work of Rev. Robert Brumet. Who among us is not experiencing rapid change and transition right now? Many in our society are frightened by these changes -– changes in our financial well-being & economics, wellness & health care, and relationships & emotional stability. If you would like to explore ways guaranteed to anchor you through major, transformational change, consider attending this class. Co-facilitated by Kathy Digges, LT and Rev. Carolyn on Sunday afternoons 12:30 pm to 2:30pm, beginning in January. Please let Kathy or Rev. Carolyn know if you are interested in attending this class.

A Prayer Chaplain is available before and after Sunday service to hold sacred space and pray with you. Every request for prayer is treated with compassion and confidentiality.

REMINDER & RECYCLING UPDATE: Our recycling vendor now accepts mixed paper, including magazines and catalogs, along with newspapers. However, phone books are still not accepted.
